Canyoneering Rescue Technician

Prerequisite: SRT1 or permission from ATS
Course Description: A multi-day Canyon Rescue course designed for the professional rescuer to create a better understanding of canyon PPE, hasty team rope systems, advanced rope systems and anchor considerations for hasty and team based evolutions, rescue practice considerations for dry, semi dry and swiftwater canyon scenes, patient environmental exposure concerns, litter packaging, floatation and in water litter maneuvering techniques using advanced rope systems, long and short earth slope hauling, low tension guidelines, tensioned highline haul systems, advanced anchors, helicopter assist and self rescue. Canyon rescuers must be prepared to be in that environment long after the patient(s) have been evacuated including exposed recovery periods.
We prefer to host the course at your location to create site-specific rescue options. We also offer this course in-canyon in Los Angeles, California.

This course is an intensive schedule mixing classroom and many hours of in-harness time. Participants are expanded to be on-site for 8-10 hours each day.
This course includes an ATS Certification that is valid for a two year period. Participants are encouraged to re-take the full course every 24-36 months to refresh on existing skills and learn new techniques.
This course includes the use of all technical gear as well as a discount on future gear purchases for a 6 month period from Vertical Outfitters. This course also includes lunch on each course day.
The course tuition does not cover travel to the course location, accommodations (discounted hotels are nearby), or breakfast/dinner.
